More than what I had Expected I've only been chalkboard lettering for about a week and with book alone, I made the sketch(see photo). The book provides details of letters, flourishes, a variety of flower designs, different borders, and includes 3 chalkboards inside the book. A must have for a beginner like me.Pleasantly surprised I just received this book today. I started playing with it right away. My husband made me a really large framed chalk board for our dinning room, and I have a friend who does great chalk art, so my plan was to pay her to do my chalk board a few times a year, but I could never find a time when she was available. I saw this book and read all the reviews. I thought I would give it a try. It's really a great book, the lessons are well thought out and go step by step. She says in the book that you do not have to have good handwriting to learn this, and based on the 30 minutes I spent working through her first lesson, I would have to agree. It's well taught. Now I don't have to only change my chalkboard a few times a year, after I go through this book I'm confident I'll be able to change my chalkboard when ever the mood strikes.Has it all - how to letter, how to embellish, how to make a complete design with words, frames and doodles. I was looking for a good book on typography so that I could use it in my art journals. I looked through every book I could find in various book stores on typography - calligraphy, advertising design, ect and I couldn't find a book that showed how to design letters. Most of them were not helpful because they contained only one or two lessons and then a ton of empty pages for you to practice on (that's what my notebook and scratch paper is for - thank you very much). Then I came across this book and every single page was full of something to learn. She starts out slowly explaining 3 types of basic font (now I know what serif and sans serif means) and then shows different ways to embellish the basic fonts to make them fancier. Then she moves into warping the font (ie writing the letters in a arc, or slanting upward or downward. There is detailed discussion on how to draw more attention to some words within a phrase so that they catch the reader's eye by making them bigger or bolder or shaded. After you get the hang of lettering she moves into working a full design - frames, banners, laurel vines, snowflakes, arrows, stars, swirls ect combined with lettering. This was exactly the book I was looking for - how to letter, how to emphasize words within a phrase and then how to put it all together into a complete design. I like that the book has plenty of pictures to show you how to do it, but doesn't skimp on the written instruction either. The book is jam packed with info and low on useless filler material as I've seen in some of the other typography books. Worth every penny and can be applied to more than making chalk board signs.

Such A Good Book...Some Unanswered Questions At The End... I loved this book so much. I finished it yesterday and just can't bring myself to start another book right now as I'm afraid whatever I read next won't measure up. I hate when that happens.Now, if I had written this review yesterday, I'd have given it 5 sparkling, shinning stars. Today though, after thinking about it all night, I lowered it to 4 stars.The book is beautifully written. The narrative is perhaps one of my favorite that I've ever read. It's told in the third person, but in a way that really makes you appreciate the characters without getting too close to any of them. There are a lot of people in this book, and while none of them can be described as the main character, or lead, you start to feel something for each of them (well, I did at least).The only reason I dropped off a star is the ending. I really don't want to give anything away, so I apologize if I'm vague, but things were wrapped up very quickly and with no explanation. Where did the virus come from? Why did it suddenly stop spreading? Why were some people asleep so much longer than others? Also, what happened with the college students who escaped? Were they discovered? What about the hotel clerk?While we learn the fate of all the 'main' characters, there were others who were mentioned that we don't get a follow-up of. The business men and women...what happened to them? The teens I previously mentioned who ran off...did they end up being ok?In the end, I choose to overlook some of these things. Yes, I would have liked an explanation for the virus, as well as an explanation for it's disappearance, but the writing was so wonderful, and the story so good, that I won't hold the last couple chapters against the entire book.I definitely recommend this. I've already asked a few of my friends to read it so we can discuss it, and, while we're only 5 minutes into 2019, I have a feeling this will rank as one of my favorites for the year.Interesting but not quite what I expected The Dreamers takes the well known concept of a sudden mass breakout and the subsequent reactions that follow and gives it a slightly different twist. A student suddenly falls asleep and never wakes up. Soon, others fall into a state of seemingly permanent sleep as it becomes apparent the phenomenon is spreading. Before long, an entire town is turned upside down as residents fight for survival amid pandemic fears and forced quarantines.The story focuses on a diverse group of characters and how they deal with the sudden outbreak and subsequent fallout. This group includes a shy college freshman, a paranoid father and his two young daughters, a professional couple and their newborn daughter and a single mother psychiatrist. There are other key characters as well but these are who the story primarily focuses on and I’d venture into spoiler territory if too much is shared about certain characters. Each character has their own unique challenges to overcome before and during the outbreak.The story is good but not quite what I expected, based on some of the professional descriptions. I was expecting something reminiscent of early Stephen King where some mysterious paranormal sleeping sickness attacks a town in full-blown horror fashion. However, this is actually more like King’s current work. I don’t want to slip up and spill any spoilers, so I’ll stop there. I will say, if you’re looking for a horror or super creepy paranormal tale, this isn’t really scary. In fact, I didn’t find it scary at all, not even a little. Although it moves along kind of slow and at times seems a little redundant, it never became unreadable for me. By the end of the story, I felt neutral as to whether or not I liked it. The ending felt underwhelming. Although I finished it and never really got bored, I constantly found myself pushing through with the goal of finishing the book rather than enjoying the story. There were several times when I thought things were going to pick up and become a lot more interesting and faster paced. I eventually realized and accepted the fact that what I was reading was the story and that neither the pace nor tone was going to change. It was then that my focus switched to finishing it as soon as possible.

Amazing book for my WOOMY brethren! I LOVE Splatoon! Such an amazing game! This book is packed full of gorgeous artwork. I'm an artist, and seeing the development of the game is just absolutely fascinating to me, and helps me gain inspiration artistically. I love peeking into behind the scenes of my favorite games and shows, and if you do too, I highly recommend this book! The book came in fantastic condition; no scratches, scuffs, dents, or any damages. It came in a cellophane plastic cover to protect it. The weight of the book is heavy and thick, and it's a hard cover, and it's definitely a quality book!Best art book ever I've been waiting for this for so long and it's finally here! This book has 327 pages worth of colorful art work! The amount of content that was put into the book is huge. If you are an avid splatoon fan, I definitely recommend this book! It is worth every penny! Heck I would still buy even if I had to pay full price ($40) for it!Nintendo's Family-Friendly Shooter Artwork of Nintendo's wacky squid-kid game, Splatoon, for the Wii U.If you have the second game and never owned the first one, this artbook is perfect to catch up on the first game's lore, tidbits, and features that helped make the second game successful and fun.I own Splatoon and Splatoon 2, but I have to say that I still like the first one better overall.This artbook goes over ideas for designing and movement of models. This was the original artwork that began the whole squid world. Unrelated to this product, but along with the stages and soundtrack, I still like the first one better (Salmon Run was my favorite addition to Splatoon 2).For a lower price than what it intially came out for, if you are a big fan of Splatoon or Splatoon 2 and are interested with its development, this should not be missed. The quality of these pages is great, and the artwork alone is enough to get this artbook.
